Trevor Alleman, PsyD
I am licensed in California to practice clinical psychology (PSY32530). I offer psychotherapy to adults, adolescents, and couples. I am versed in helping patients address trauma, mood problems, relationship issues, personality disorders, compulsive behaviors, obsessive thoughts, and other mental health concerns.
I earned my doctorate in clinical psychology (PysD) at Fuller School of Psychology in Pasadena, CA. My dissertation explored trauma reenactment in romantic relationships through a psychoanalytic lens. Under the mentorship of my advisor, Alvin Dueck, I studied the impact of culture, community, and religion on the psychotherapy process.
I completed a two-year predoctoral internship in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at The Wright Institute of Los Angeles (WILA). I accrued my postdoctoral hours at Westmont College Counseling Center and in private practice.
I specialize in ISTDP (Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy). In addition to other ISTDP training, I completed a three-year, 225-hour core training with Jon Frederickson.
Testimonials
My time with Dr. Alleman was extremely helpful. He invited me to show up and do the work required to really connect with my emotions and their physical counterparts. I learned what it meant to be embodied in a meaningful way, identifying how emotions arise in my body. I would highly recommend Dr. Alleman to anyone ready to put in the work and really show up to learn about themselves and heal along the way.
I cannot express enough how grateful I am for the transformative experience my family and I had with Trevor as our family therapist. From the very first session, it was clear that Trevor was dedicated to making sure every member of our family felt heard and valued. Our sessions were always concise and focused, yet Trevor's empathetic approach ensured that we never felt rushed. He skillfully guided us through our discussions, helped us to navigate complex emotions while holding space for one another, and helped us improve our communication. With Trevor’s guidance and help, my family and I are better equipped to handle future challenges together. I highly recommend Trevor to any family seeking a compassionate and effective therapist.
I initially reached out to Dr. Trevor regarding issues related to anxiety. Throughout our sessions, he helped me to recognize that my anxiety was primarily a coping mechanism stemming from deeper underlying issues. He helped me gain insight into the root causes behind the general anxiety and tension I often experienced. Through our sessions, I came to realize how many unhealthy coping mechanisms I had developed from childhood. The clarity I gained from our sessions has significantly contributed to my peace of mind. I highly recommend Dr. Trevor, especially to those who value the integration of Christianity with psychology. His approach in combining faith and psychology was done very well, and I am grateful for his support.
